Tequila and Margarita

Tequila is a hard alcohol, often considered the national drink of Mexico. Unlike grain alcohols, Tequila is distilled from the Agave cactus, giving it an interesting effect different from other more common liquors.

The classic method of drinking tequila is as a shot, with a little salt and a slice of lime (lick the salt off the back of your hand, drink the shot, then suck on a lime). It is also the main ingredient in mixed drinks such as the marguerita, the tequila sunrise, and the veracruz cocktail.

For example, to make a margarita, wet the rim of the glass you'll be serving the margarita in with lime juice and coat with salt. Mix two parts tequila, one part lime jiuce, and a smidgen of triple sec together, or blend with ice. Serve in the salt-coated glasses, plain if blended or over cracked ice if stirred.
